Superstar Enable on Course in Bid for Third Arc The King George at Ascot last weekend was billed as one of the races of the season, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. With two furlongs to go we had the two favourites side by side in the lead, pulling away from a field full of classy individuals. Enable eventually managed to get the better of Crystal Ocean to maintain her unbeaten run, and it is now all systems go for a third tilt at the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in October. After winning the race for the past two seasons, it comes as no surprise to see Enable as the favourite to land a third French title, although she was eased in the betting after her success on Saturday. There is a chance we won’t see her again before the French race, so the King George could be her last ever run on British soil as she is set to be retired at the end of the season. John Gosden commented after the race that she could head straight to France with a break before the race, although no plans have been set in stone and much of it will depend on how the horse is over the next week to ten days. Should she go for one more race in the UK then she has two entries at the moment, the Juddmonte International and Yorkshire Oaks, both of which are at the York Ebor meeting at the end of August, so training for them would be no different as they are just one day apart. The opponents for her in the Arc are likely to be mainly horses that she has beaten before, which puts her in a very good position. Those interested in getting a wager on her may want to do that now while the value is still there, with the bookmakers at newbettingsites.uk already taking bets on the French showpiece. Unless something comes out and really impresses between now and October, which seems unlikely, Enable is only going to contract in price as the race appears on the horizon. If she goes straight to the race as has been suggested, then there is no chance of her running poorly and having a negative impact on her price. This site compares the latest offers for Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe for those who intend to get an early wager on her to win the same race for the third time. After Longchamp, Enable will head to the breeding barn win or lose. Having two victories in the Arc alongside her Oaks win and multiple other Group One successes, she doesn’t actually have anything to prove by continuing to race. She will no doubt be given the very best stallions when the time comes, and don’t be surprised to see Frankel, who is in the same ownership, be the first horse to cover Enable to produce what would likely be one of the most talked about foals in recent years.
