The Conor O'Dwyer trained Stradbally justified joint favouritism when winning the Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle at Sligo today.
Ridden by Niki O'Shea, the son of Flemensfirth raced prominently, disputed the lead from the second last flight, before eventually sticking his head in front on the run-in for a length and three parts success over Itsuptoyou
Afterwards O'Dwyer stated "Stradbally ideally wants two miles but there was no suitable race for him until July 13 at Killarney so we decided to take our chance here."
He added "the ground was as fast as he likes it and he was a little tapped for toe turning into the straight. He'll have a break now and is a nice horse to look forward to later in the year."
