The money came for Stormy Jenn and it proved inspired as she sluiced up by six lengths in the first split of the Racing Club Membership Handicap at Gowran Park.

She wasn't proven on testing ground before today which probably explained the morning price of 12/1, but the cash came and sent her off 5/1 favourite.

The five-year-old mare got some daylight outside the two pole and began to stay on in the hands of Robert Whearty. She made good headway to storm into the lead a furlong down and powered away to win by a dominant six lengths from recent Killarney winner Skontonovski (8/1).

Gemini Moon (14/1 from 22/1) and Deuteronomy (25/1) were back in third and fourth respectively.

Trainer Peter Cluskey said: "She likes Gowran. She was third last time at Dundalk and we said we'd stick her in here today when we saw this race.

“She's been a good old servant and we've always thought a bit of her. When she won here last year, we got a 14lb rise and that just stopped her for a while.

“She handled Dundalk and we were worried about it being that bit softer here but she handled it well.

“Please God she might win another one for us. It's great to get one as we're only a small outfit.”
