The Stewards interviewed Mr.Edward P.Harty, trainer, concerning the withdrawal of his charge, Like Your Style, due to ground conditions.

Evidence was heard from Mr. Noel O.’Brien, Senior National Hunt Turf Club Handicapper, who stated that this horse has shown his best form on soft or heavy conditions, adding that both his wins came on soft ground. He concluded by saying that his best recent form when finishing second in the Troytown Chase at Navan , came on heavy ground.

Evidence was also heard from the trainer concerned who accepted that Like Your Style has shown his best form in soft condition but this he felt was more circumstantial than anything, with soft conditions more common in Ireland. He felt that in his opinion his charge would prefer better ground. Regarding the run on heavy going at Navan, he felt that this left it’s mark on the horse, who failed to run to form on his two subsequent starts. He concluded by saying that Like Your Style is only just ready to run after a break and he doesn’t want to risk the rest of the season by subjecting the horse to a hard race on conditions far from ideal.

Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
