Star shines bright on Dundalk debut Meg's A Star looked smart when making a winning debut for Joseph O'Brien in the opener at Dundalk today. The US-bred filly went to post a 6/1 shot on her first outing and was produced to challenge on the far side by Dylan Browne McMonagle going to the furlong pole. She quickened up nicely to lead inside the final furlong and held the late challenge of Shelbiana on the stands' side to secure a half-length victory. The winner cost $135,000 as a yearling and is a half-sister to two black-type performers in the US. Browne McMonagle said afterwards:- “She's a lovely filly. “I wasn't the quickest away and it kind of put me on the back foot a little bit, but she was well able to clue in fairly fast. “After a furlong I was able to get up behind them and she travelled around well. She picked up well and won well. She's a nice filly.”
