The Panoramic Restaurant (C&G) Maiden Hurdle caused somewhat of a surprise when 50/1 shot Stanton Court came home in front under John Cullen.
Cullen who was in mid-division entering the straight came with a late run to get up and lead on the run-in and deny 6/4 favourite Baracas by a length and a half.
Winning trainer Prunella Dobbs said afterwards: “That was a wonderful win and quite unexpected to be honest.”
“His race in Clonmel had really sharpened him up and brought him up to this standard.”
“He’s a real chaser in the making a staying chaser I think so it’s great he has such a good turn of foot because he will stay.”
“He will keep hurdling for the time being to get more experience and he will go chasing next year.”
“Punchestown is like the mecca, the groundsmen here do a wonderful job with the track it’s always in perfect condition.”
