Stand To Attention ran out a convincing winner of the Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sale Stakes at Fairyhouse to give the Young Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association Racing Club, Paul Deegan and Chris Hayes a big pay-day (€74,000 to the winner). Bathwick Bear David Evans' raider struck on two furlongs out and looked like he might hold-on but Stand To Attention (a 16/1 chance) came through from off the pace to lead inside the final furlong, drawing on to prevail by three lengths from The Four Masters Short-priced favourite Dereenatra was beaten from over a furlong out and eventually had to settle for eleventh place.
An understandably delighted Deegan said: "He only cost two grand but we've always thought a lot of him. The plan was one run and then here and it's worked out. He is a fair horse and Chris gave him a brilliant ride. He wouldn't want it rattling fast but he should be fine on anything else.
"The Young Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association Racing Club lease him off me and it's my first winner for them. Prize-money wise that's my biggest win.
"Stand To Attention is very big but he is strong and mature. He will step-up to Pattern company next."
