Spreadex brings two betting worlds together on one slick site Spreadex is a betting company like no other. The company which has been trading on the internet for 20 years combines traditional fixed odds betting on horse racing with the exciting but more volatile spread betting. Fixed odds betting, also known as Sports betting, is the standard form of betting we are all familiar with - you pick a horse to win a race and place your bet at a fixed price or SP and if the horse wins you win. If the horse loses you lose your stake. Spread betting is a whole different kettle of fish. Again you can pick a horse to win a race and place a wager. If the horse wins you win but if the horses nearly wins or even runs well you can also win. The down side of spread betting is when your horse runs badly. If the horse finishes down the field you can lose more than your initial stake. Here is an example of how the two types of betting differ with Spreadex on a standard race that took place at Market Rasen on Monday. In the second race on the card, a 12 runner handicap hurdle, Spreadex priced the favourite Collodi at 3/1 in their fixed odds market at midday. In the spread betting market on the same race Collodi was available to buy at 22 on their 50-30-20-10 index. This index on the race allocates 50 points to the winner, 30 points to the second, 20 points for the third, 10 points for the fourth and zero points for all other finishers. So if we break down these two potential betting options on Collodi, a €10 bet on the fixed odds market at 3/1 has the potential to win €30 if the horse wins. If the horse doesn’t win the bet loses €10. A buy of Collodi on the spread betting market at 22 for €1 a point has the potential to win €28 if the horse wins (50 points for a win). If Collodi places second it would win €8 (30 points for second). If he finishes third there is a loss of €2 (20 points for third) or fourth a loss of €12 (10 points for fourth). Should Collodi run below form and finish out of the first four places the spread bet loses €22 (zero points). As it turned out Collodi won the race comfortably so choosing either betting options would have resulted in a win in this case but you can see how the spread betting option differs from fixed odds betting. Spreadex have an interactive spread betting calculator which allows you to see the different outcomes on March's Cheltenham Festival by choosing different betting options and stakes. Here is a video explaining in more depth the spread betting options available on horse racing with Spreadex Spreadex offer a variety of different spread betting options on each race meeting including indexes on the performance of all favourites across the card and the total winning distances for a meeting. Both these indexes are considered to be of ‘medium volatility.’ On the fixed odds markets Spreadex offer all the standard bets such as singles, doubles, trebles, yankees etc but they also have ‘place only’ betting and ‘without the favourite’ markets on all races. Another interesting betting angle offered by Spreadex on their fixed odds markets is the 'Fav or Rag' markets where you can either choose to back the favourites in a race or back the rest of the field. These bets can also be combined in multiples.
