Something opens chasing account in Thurles opener The Padraig Roche-trained Something Abouther stayed on stoutly to open her chasing account at the second time of asking in the opener at Thurles today. Walk With Paul went to post a 1/2 shot and opened up a healthy advantage up the back straight in the two-mile-one contest. The distress signals started to go out on the long run to the last though as she tired and Something Abouther came through to lead under Aidan Kelly. Despite running around a touch going to the final flight Something Abouther always looked in control as she went on to beat 80/1 shot Pebble Bleu by seven-and-a-half lengths. The 4/1 winner had unseated on her chase debut at Fairyhouse last month and Roche said afterwards:- “She’s a homebred mare that won a bumper and the lads were kind enough to buy her. “She’s been the unluckiest mare with little setbacks here and there, nothing too serious but we never really got a clear run with her. She’s very versatile ground wise. “She might have a date in the breeding shed now as she has a great page. They have been very versatile and deserve that.” (Quotes by Alan Magee)
