Charles Byrnes admits Solwhit may have to again make do with minor honours as he has another crack at Hurricane Fly in the paddypower.com iPhone App Festival Hurdle at Leopardstown today.
Solwhit had his major rival behind when winning at Punchestown early last season, but Hurricane Fly came out on top when they met at the Punchestown Festival in April and again in Fairyhouse's Hatton's Grace Hurdle a fortnight ago.
Given that last encounter was Hurricane Fly's first outing of the season, Byrnes finds it difficult to envisage his star hurdler turning the tables.
"He seems in good form and we're very happy with him, but we might have to settle for second again," said Byrnes.
"Going to Fairyhouse we thought we could beat Hurricane Fly but we couldn't on the day and it's going to be very hard tomorrow. But you never know and we have to have another go.
"We'll see how he gets on before we make any other plans. We'll just take it one day at a time."
Hurricane Fly's trainer, Willie Mullins, is also represented by last season's County Hurdle hero Thousand Stars while Luska Lad and Won In The Dark complete the select field.
