Silver Tassie was strongly backed from around 7/4 this morning into 9/10 for the Midland Breeders Supporting Kilbeggan Beginners Chase and it was easy to see why after he strode to victory under Denis O'Regan.
Once they reeled in the clear pace setter, Bonifacio in the second half of the last circuit, Silver Tassie and Tisamystery were going to be the main protagonists.
Approaching the straight there was only going to be one winner if Silver Tassie negotiated the last.
Noel Meade 's charge brushed through it a touch but he still came home an easy twenty four lengths to the good from the aforementioned Tisamystery.
O'Regan said: "I can't actually remember my last winner here but it was a very lucky track for me over the years when I was here.
"I rode a lot of winners here for Noel and it was nice to get on a horse like that who operated – jump and travel like that – it was brilliant.
"I'd say he'll probably be a better chaser, progressing and going forward and he might get a bit further.
"I have no plan to be honest, I've just been coming and going. Paul (Carberry) is obviously injured at the moment and when he's back I'll step aside.
"I got lucky tonight on a nice horse for Noel and I'll ride whenever I'm required. I'll be back and forward – taking it one step at a time."
Meanwhile Meade revealed: "He'll go to Listowel if there is a suitable race for him. He needs two and a half miles plus at least and wants goodish ground. Down the line he will probably go back over hurdles, and I think there is still a good handicap hurdle in him.
"It is taking a while for Paul's collarbone to heal. He is hoping to be back for Listowel but, with Davy (Condon) also out, I'm hoping Denis will spend more time in Ireland and ride for us."
J.J. Burke, rider of Sizing Jo'burg trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount pulled up lame.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Sizing Jo'burg, trained by Henry de Bromhead, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be Post Race Normal. (AM & EM)
