Smullen gets good tune from Music Hes Our Music swooped on the outer to land the spoils in the ten furlong handicap at Dundalk. Pat Smullen settled his mount mid-division in the early stages before pulling him wide at the two furlong pole. Pat Flynn's charge challenged at the furlong marker and soon hit the front, staying on well in the closing stages to post a length-and-a-half verdict over Kharezi. The winner was backed this morning from 8/1 into 9/2 and was sent off that price but it was the runner-up who was the big gamble of the race. John McConnell's charge had been backed from 10/1 into 2/1 this morning before going off 5/2 favourite on track. He just couldn't match Hes Our Music inside the final furlong however. Smullen revealed afterwards that the all-weather surface suited the winner:- "I rode him at Navan where he hated the ground. That's the surface he needs and he (Pat Flynn) should keep him going here over the winter." (Additional reporting by Alan Magee)
