Smullen excels on rare foray for Walsh From an early stage it was apparent that Pat Smullen was suiting himself nicely up front on Ted Walsh's 12/1 shot, Tomorrow Morning, in the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap. Those tactics took the pair all the way to a short head success over Clutchingatstraws. When some of the rest, including second and third, Clutchingatstraws, and Deemah, were getting 'tangled up' from over a furlong out, Smullen was setting sail for the judge. Donagh O'Connor got a great late run out of Clutchingatstraws, but the line came just in time for Tomorrow Morning, with Deemah two and a quarter lengths back in third. "It's about 20 years since Pat Smullen rode a winner for me. It was the year he was champion apprentice and I'd say he's rode one horse for me since as he's so hard to get," said Walsh. "It was on a filly called Dunemer (1995) in a nursery at Galway. "That was great. She was knocking on the door and was 13lb better with Clutchingatstraws for a couple of lengths, so she had a chance. "She handles the place and will probably come back for something else." (GC & EM)
