Pat Smullen booted home his 83rd winner of the season when Famous Name landed The Jockey Club of Turkey Trigo Stakes (Listed Race) at Leopardstown this afternoon in the colours of Prince Khaled Abdullah making it a double on the day for the owner, jockey and trainer.
The Dermot Weld trained colt was held up, made progress from over 2f out and improved to lead from over 1f out and stayed on well to hold off Poet of Aidan O'Brien's by 2 ? lengths.
Weld commented afterwards, "He's a proper horse and that was nice performance. That's my first double for Prince Khaled Abdullah. We'll put the horse away now until next year. He will make a lovely 4 year old and hopefully we'll get a Group 1 into him next year. We got the tactics wrong in France he ran too free in front. The horse is still not fully furnished."
