The last race on the card at Limerick this afternoon the www.limerickraces.ie Mares Flat Race went the way of newcomer Sliabh Geal Gcua (11/1) for her trainer John Queally and rider Richard Harding.
The 6yo daughter of Milan came from off the pace and was fifth approaching the straight for the final time. She then made progress to hit the front a furlong and a half from home and stayed on well from there to win comfortably. Eva La Diva who ran well to finish third on her debut at Wexford last month behind Marble Article, put in another good performance finishing four and a half lengths back in second, while High Class Show finished a further seven lengths back in third at 12/1.
Winning trainer John Queally said afterwards: "We were hopeful she would run well but we weren't expecting her to win. We have no plans for her now but it is great to win. She will probably go for a maiden hurdle now during the winter.
"Her co-owner Tony Harrington (with Ms Eileen O'Brien) from Dungarvan has been twenty five years waiting for this."
