Trainer Andy Slattery is hoping to qualify Sir Allen for the new Full Circle Series Final at the Punchestown festival in April, with his five year old gelding recently showing a return to form.
A dual winner last spring, Sir Allen finished mid-field in the Fred Winter Hurdle at Cheltenham and while he failed to win subsequently, finished an encouraging sixth in the €150,000 Timeless Sash Windows Handicap Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival.
Slattery is now targeting Punchestown and the Full Circle Series Final, where the first six horses to finish in each leg of ten qualifying races will be eligible for the festival final.
Slattery says “I was delighted with his run the last day as it has taken him a long time to come back from his injury. He got a bad injury after Fairyhouse last year and I just think it has taken its time.
"He might go to Gowran ((Full Circle qualifier) next Saturday, we are thinking of stepping him up to 2m4f and I want to qualify him for that race in Punchestown.
"I had a tongue-tie on him in Leopardstown for the first time because in his last two races he lost his position four furlongs out and ran on again. I thought he was maybe swallowing his tongue.
"He seems to be in great form after the race."
