Joey Sheridan continues to impress, and the young rider recorded his sixth winner of the season aboard Not Now Zeb (17/2) in the Gormanlough Apprentice Handicap.
They went quick in this extended five furlong event, and market principals Taggalo (13/8 fav) and Half Nutz were amongst four horses fighting it out as the final furlong approached.
Sheridan had given his mount a chance and, as the leaders began to tire a bit up the hill, he produced his mount to collar Half Nutz close home to gain a half length verdict.
The favourite Taggalo faded to fifth in the end.
The wining gelding by Zebedee, trained by Tom Mullins, had also been partnered by Sheridan when taking a nursery at Naas last September off a similar mark, and showed the benefit of a couple of unplaced comeback runs last month.
Afterwards, the winning rider said: “They went very quick, and the ground is holding, so I gave my lad a chance to breath and thankfully he came home strong for me.
“Thanks to Tom Mullins and all the opportunities he has given me.”
