Joey Sheridan recorded the biggest win of his fledgling career in the saddle when Royal Illusion readily landed the Cesarewitch here just nine days ago, and he was again on the mark at the Curragh as Conversant justified favourirism in the Take Teens Racing Handicap.

The Denis Hogan-trained gelding led over a furlong out and, despite drifting left towards the stands’ side rail, kept on well to beat Fugacious by a length and a quarter.

The veteran Enter The Red was a further two and a half lengths adrift in third.

Sheridan has caught the eye of many good judges this year and is now on the 17-winner mark for the campaign.

The 17-year-old apprentice said, “He did it well. Things didn't really go his way the last day in Gowran, he did a bit too much out in front. I got him settled today, got him covered, and he finished out his race well.

“He just did a bit too much the last day. The drop back in trip and the soft ground really played into his hands.

“He has a tendency to go left but when I got it into my left hand and hit him a few smacks he went away well.”
