Teddy Boy held on in a tight finish to the Arkle Bar Handicap at Navan this afternoon, giving Danny Sheehy his first winner since returning from injury.

The 5lb claimer had only returned to action at the Curragh yesterday having been on the sidelines since dislocating his shoulder back in June, which subsequently required surgery.

Eddie Lynam 's charge went for home a furlong-and-a-half out in the five furlong contest but was strongly pressed close home.

9/2 favourite Face Off and Pillar both finished off well to get within a head and a neck of the 14/1 winner at the line.

Lynam said:- “He took his time winning a race and I thought he’d have won by now.

“He’s an awful brat and runs away going to the start. He’d go down quicker than he’d come back!

“We sent him down early so he got a bit of a rest today!

“I don’t think there is anything else for him. He’s not like a camel as he doesn’t like the sand so he won’t be going to Dundalk.”
