Girouette justified her connections' decision to supplement her, for €6,700, in the Group 3 Patrick P.O'Leary Memorial Pheonix Sprint Stakes at The Curragh today, the filly winning by a short head under Pat Shanahan.
Previously successful at the venue last month, the daughter of Pivotal needed a slick of luck on her side today, seeing off the challenge of runner-up Perfect Polly by the narrowest of margins.
Afterwards winning trainer Tracey Collins stated “Pat (Shanahan) gave her a masterful ride today. She has had her problems but he knows her so well. She is a filly that you don't want to 'disappoint' when riding her and Pat let her stride on. It was a really top class ride.”
She added “we'll come back here on September 12 for a Group 3 over six furlongs next.”
