Owner Richard Barnes recorded a double at Tipperary today when Triple Sec ground out victory in the nursery this afternoon.
The 5/1 shot was settled mid-division in the seven-furlong contest before being produced to challenge a furlong from home by Ronan Whelan.
The Patrick Prendergast-trained filly got her head in front inside the final furlong and kept on gamely to record a length-and-a-quarter victory over Scoil Naisiunta
The winner had been fourth on her most recent outing in a Down Royal maiden. The colours had also been carried to victory by the Fozzy Stack-trained dead-heater Court Queen in the opener.
"She did it well and was always threatening to do something like that at home but for one reason or another it didn't click for her,” said Whelan afterwards.
"She was probably a bit weak and has started to strengthen up a bit now and I think she'll just go on improving now and as time goes on she'll get better. There's lot to look forward to with her and she is very straightforward."
