Screen Siren stepped up on a solid recent run over course and distance when keeping on best to take the Navan Racecourse Handicap under Chris Hayes.

A dual winner over this trip at Cork, the Sarah Lynam trained mare was winning for the third time in 22 starts.

Held up last of the seven runners in the early stages of this contest, Hayes bided his time on the five-year-old, before producing her from off the pace to challenge at the furlong pole.

Making his move between leader Harmony Rose and the weakening Only Spoofing Hayes overhauled the former on the climb to the finish, before going on to score by half-a-length.

Sarah Lynam said: "The jockeys were all saying it was very dead on the far rail. so I just said 'can we come over this side?'

"When they jumped out, I thought I had perhaps overcomplicated my instructions, but he (Chris Hayes) did it to a tee. Screeny was very good as well, she was coming there well.

"It's great because Trevor (Dalzell, owner) is here today and he hasn't been there for her other wins. I'm delighted.

"She ran so well the last day and the form was working out well.

"She is actually the only one I have to run at the minute, so the pressure was on! I have a very small string this year."
