A double helping of Irish racing action is in store on Saturday, with Flat fare from the Curragh in tandem with the Bellewstown jumps card.

Group 3 contests from HQ come via the Lodge Park Stud Irish European Breeders Fund Park Express Stakes (15:25) and the Tote.ie Alleged Stakes (16:35).

We have picked out a trio of runners to look out for in Ireland on Saturday.

    Meade's Kaptain to come good

Conditions at Bellewstown are expected to be on the fast side, with current going reports suggesting 'good-good to firm in places' will be the official ground.

That should suit Noel Meade's KAPTAIN BAY in the Sean and Margaret McManus Memorial Maiden Hurdle over 2m1f in the second race on the card.

The son of New Bay displayed distinct promise in three-year-old hurdles races at Ballinrobe, twice in the autumn when making the frame on both occasions.

He ran well enough in a Curragh maiden next time and his subsequent hurdles runs at Punchestown (2m½, soft; 5th) and Fairyhouse (2m, soft; pulled up) can be excused on account of the conditions.

He may relish the ground now, whereas plenty of his rivals could find it goes against them.

    O'Brien's filly to sprint home

Joseph O'Brien turns out GUTSY GIRL quite quickly here after the Blue Point filly finished fourth in a Listed contest at Cork (6f, good) last weekend on stable debut, after being bought out of Charlie Fellowes' yard for 95,000gns in December.

She was handy under Dylan McMonagle in that contest and challenged from the two-furlong pole but ultimately was only fourth, as stablemate Lady With The Lamp continued her progress to score on seasonal bow and tee herself up for a possible Commonwealth Cup tilt at Royal Ascot.

On ratings, Gutsy Girl came out of that race with plenty of credit in the bank. She stood her racing well in England last summer and was kept relatively busy.

Her new trainer must feel confident she'll be at her best under the quick turnaround and if she runs to the sort of level over 5f at York last August when last tackling the minimum trip, she may prove a tough nut to crack.

Twomey's challenger well worth a Look

Paddy Twomey has his string in fine tune right now. The trainer from Golden, County Tipperary enjoyed a rare winner in the National Hunt sphere when Seo Linn bagged the Grade 2 bumper at Aintree under Billy Lee last week.

That was followed on Sunday by Bubble Gum taking the honours in the Listed Noblesse Stakes at Cork and the pairing were also on the scoresheet at Leopardstown in midweek, giving Twomey three winners from his last eight runners and a strike-rate of 37 across the last fortnight.

The in-form duo combine here with ONE LOOK, a daughter of Gleneagles that looked progressive last autumn. She was a Listed winner over this mile trip at Killarney (soft) in August and signed off with a good second in Group 3 company at Gowran Park (1m1½f, good) the following month.

Two further Listed winners were behind her that afternoon amongst a trio of next-time-out winners. There should be more to come from her aged four and, with the yard in cracking form, this Park Express Stakes is a good starting point.
