Salvado makes all in opener Salvado justified some good support when opening his account at the sixth attempt in the six-furlong maiden at Dundalk. Fran Berry rode a canny race from the front, quickening the pace in the straight on the Charles O’Brien-trained gelding to deny his ten rivals. The 100/30 favourite, available at 5/1 this morning and opened 4/1 on track, stayed on well inside the final furlong to beat Mianya Return (33/1) by a length and a quarter. Fitrah (9/2) was a further half a length adrift in third. Berry said, “His draw (stall five) was an advantage and he got an uncontested lead. I kicked between the three and two furlong markers, and I thought he’d be difficult to beat from that point. “He stuck to his guns well, and I’d say his bit of handicap experience helped.”
