Saint Brandon scores for Lupini and Leonard Killian Leonard stepped in for the winning ride on Saint Brandon (5/2f) at Cork today, steering the Natalia Lupini-trained colt to readily land the Dine In Our Panoramic Restaurant Handicap. Carrying the colours of Lupini’s husband Craig Bryson, the son of Saxon Warrior today made virtually all and scored by 2.25 lengths from Iceford. Leonard was filling in for Wayne Lordan, whose brother Pat Lordan passed away on Friday, and the winning jockey reported “obviously my thoughts are with the Lordan family and I was there to step in today. I received the call last night to ride him but obviously it is an unfortunate was to accept the ride but it has worked out in my favour. “He has loads of speed, he got racing a little early with me from the gates and I thought he was doing too much, but in fairness to him he quickened up and did it well at the line. “I’ve ridden plenty winners for Natalia who was a good supporter of mine in the past but she got her riders over the years and she uses Billy (Lee), Wayne (Lordan) and Seamie (Heffernan). My rides dried up but I was proud to step in for this ride today.”
