The tough nature of National Hunt racing was brought into harsh focus as Leighinmohr gained something of a hollow victory in the Slievenamon Beginners Chase at Clonmel.
The 15/8 favourite and chief market rival Horse No Name (2/1) literally had the 2m2f event between from the start as they soon went clear of their six rivals.
Horse No Name set a strong pace throughout, and the pair set down for a real battle in the straight.
The 'jolly' held a narrow advantage when Horse No Name fell at the final fence, and sadly he had to be put down due to injuries suffered. Rider Mikey Fogarty walked away unscathed.
This left the Ian Ferguson-trained Leighinmohr a long way clear, and Andrew Lynch's mount came home all of 60 lengths ahead of Dawerann with Deep Inspiration a distant third.
Lynch said, "He's a big lazy horse but jumps well. He didn't beat a whole lot today but wants better ground and you couldn't fault him on that.
"He had the other horse cooked when he fell at the last."
