A 17lb hike in the weights did nothing to stop Sabaidee quickening away in great style to win the two mile one furlong flat handicap at Killarney.

The four-year-old filly got that hefty raise for hacking up in Bellewstown by seven lengths over a mile and six, and today she powered home by three lengths with Colin Keane in the plate this time.

John Joseph Murphy’s 5/1 favourite came through with her run with two furlongs to go. From there she pulled well clear of Morning Ireland (8/1) who tried to close under Fran Berry in the final furlong, but couldn’t reel her in.

“She continues to improve, but we’ve always liked her. She’s a possible for Galway, but she might turn out early next week as she didn’t have a hard race there [entered at Ballinrobe on Monday],” John Murphy said. Zemario at 7/1 from 11s in the ring and Raggletagglegypsy (13/2) were back in third and fourth in this 18-runner contest.

Sabaidee is certainly relishing the hot weather and quick ground in Ireland with two clear-cut successes since the ground dried out.
