SPRAKE COMING ROUND

Tim Sprake, unconscious in the North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke since suffering head injuries in a road accident on December 13rd, is no longer in a coma and has begun the process of coming round, it emerged today.

To assist his recovery the jockey is currently being played a video compilation of his big-race victories and commentaries, which was put together at the request of his agent Guy Jewell.

"The specialist told Debbie (Sprake's wife) that he was out of the coma and waking up slowly and opening his eyes," Jewell said today.

"It's a great start to the year and it is very encouraging."

Among the races featured in the video are Sprake's win on Tamarisk in the Haydock Park Sprint Cup, Spout landing the Lancashire Oaks and John Porter Stakes and Cyrian's success in the Northumberland Plate.
