SPENCER FACES LENGTHY BAN

Jamie Spencer faces a lengthy suspension after being referred to the stewards of the Jockey Club for his use of the whip at Warwick this afternoon.

Spencer, who has partnered 70 winners this season, was found guilty of using his whip above shoulder height aboard third home Tedstale in the Tote Placepot Nursery (Showcase Handicap).

Stewards secretary William Nunneley said: 'Spencer has been suspended 15 days for whip offences in the last 12 months so this offence triggers an automatic referral to Portman Square.'

Spencer was visibly upset about being referred to the stewards of the Jockey Club for the first time but declined to comment.
