Tresorier recorded his third career win and justified good support into the bargain when getting up on the line to take the Donate To The Coast To Curragh Charity Cycle In Honour Of Pat Smullen Handicap at Dundalk.
Eddie Lynam was seeking a quickfire treble having landed the opening two races with Sister Lola and Phantom Power and went very close to pulling it off with Linus Larrabee Acquiescent set the pace but dropped away inside the final furlong as a number of horses challenged towards the outer.
Linus Larrabee held the call about 50 yards out but was pegged back on the line by Tresorier (14/1 in the morning and sent off at 13/2) in the hands of 2020 champion apprentice Gavin Ryan.
A head separated the pair with Crystal Dawn coming home strongly just the same distance further back in third.
Winning trainer Johnny Feane said, “It’s great for the owners (Dundalk Bay Sea Foods) who are based nearby in Clogherhead.
“He’s hard to win with as he needs to come late. He’d give you palpations but it’s good!
“He was third here last year and will be back here for the winter.”
Ryan said, “He likes to find a bit of trouble in his races and get there late. Thankfully they went hard today and I was able to do that. He has the ability but just needs a lot of things to fall his way.”
