Russell completes Galway treble Champion Jockey Davy Russell has taken Galway races by storm today and completed an opening races treble in the SanServ Handicap Hurdle, winning on the Arthur Moore trained Lastoftheleaders. The winner, the last sired foal by deceased stallion Supreme Leader, made all and went clear entering the straight. At the line, the gelding held a two and a quarter lengths lead over Delphi Mountain. Afterwards Moore stated “I looked at the race last night and thought there wouldn't be a lot of pace in the race so decided to make the running and it worked out well! “It was a nice pot to get and he's been a great servant. It has started him off on the right note for the season and he'll go back chasing now and will stay at that for the season. “He'll run next in the Ballyhack Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse in six weeks time – it's a race he won last year and finished second in the previous year. He probably shouldn't have run in the Irish National last year, when he didn't stay the trip in the soft ground, and should have run the following day in the Dan Moore Chase but we'll stick to chases between two miles and two and a half miles this season.”
