Run The Jewels battles bravely at Cork Run The Jewels made up for a narrow defeat last time to gain compensation in the Francis Harte Memorial Handicap at Cork. Having just his second start for Michael McCullagh, the gelding stayed at it well when asked for maximum effort. A winner for previous connections at Dundalk over the winter, he arrived with a big chance inside the last two furlongs. However, his jockey Scott McCullagh was at pains not to ask for everything straight away, perhaps mindful the gelding found less than expected last time. To the credit of both horse and rider, the response was forthcoming when push came to shove and the combination went on to see off London Palladium by a length and a half. Michael McCullagh said "that's our first runner from the Curragh, we're based there now and Danny McLoughlin is looking after everything for me. I was based in Goresbridge previously and hopefully we will now expand. Danny knows the gallops on the Curragh well." Assistant Danny McLoughlin added "myself and Michael got in touch and it is hard getting staff but we work together to run the show. "We have two horses at the moment and are looking for more. Everyone has got to start somewhere and Michael, Scott and Niall (McCullagh) have been great. Michael brought me pony racing over the years and myself and Scott are best of friends since we were young."
