Run For Pat put in a professional display to get off the mark in Listowel's three mile maiden hurdle.
His task was made easier when the 1/2 favourite What Path was pulled up with a circuit to race after running no race. He was found to be clinically abnormal afterwards. Paul Townend reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount didn't jump or travel. He further added that he did not handle todays going.
Run For Pat travelled well to hit the front three out and was in no mood to relinquish it as Davy Russell drove him home in the straight by three and a quarter lengths.
He was returned at 11/4 and beat 9/1 Battle Of Mirbat into second.
Gordon Elliott said: “It’s great for the Sloans, they’re big supporters of the yard, and they’ll get a kick out of that. I don’t know what happened to the favourite (What Path), but it left it a lot easier for us.
"He jumped well and it was nice to win. Davy said he’d be better over a fence.”
