Rotten Row a son of St Leger winner Leading Light, made a winning debut in the concluding bumper at Roscommon.
Tom Hamilton was in the plate for Joseph O'Brien and he rode his mount into the lead past Dreamz inside the final furlong.
The 3/1 chance forged on well to put a length and a half between himself and the 7/4 favourite who travelled well before being outgunned. Steel Queen (5/1 from 17/2) showed promise in third for Henry de Bromhead, beaten over six lengths by the victor.
Assistant trainer Brendan Powell said: “Tom said he travelled lovely, but they didn't go a great gallop and it turned into a sprint.
“He said from about two furlongs out he got lost a little bit but, once he asked him, he lengthened out and he was doing his best work at the end. He said he actually picked up and quickened.
“He's done enough at home but there will be a fair amount of improvement in the horse too.
“It was a nice debut. The second horse was well fancied and had run well in a Grade 3 bumper at Punchestown so the form is good. He's got a good future.”
