Philip Rothwell saddles two new additions to his yard in the Clonmel Supporters Club Beginners Chase at Powerstown Park on Thursday.
The Tinahely trainer is looking forward to saddling Dougal Philps in the two-mile contest but has warned Notimetoserve needs to improve on his recent homework.
Dougal Philps, a winner on the Flat and placed twice over hurdles, goes straight over fences on his return to action with Rothwell keen to make the most of the four-year-old allowances.
"I bought him at the horses-in-training sale and I like him very much," said Rothwell.
"His work has been very good. His jumping will also improve but hopefully he runs very well. I think he's a horse we'll have a lot of fun with.
"One of the reasons I bought him was the fact that he would get the weight in these beginner chases."
Notimetoserve won a handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe back in May and looks to have a chance on his form over timber but Rothwell said his schooling has left a bit to be desired.
"He has been a little disappointing but hopefully he runs a nice race.
"His jumping at home hasn't been brilliant and hopefully he gets around safely. I think he'll improve for the experience." Goal who has been in great form on the level recently, makes his chase debut for Gordon Elliott while Treat Yourself unsighted behind Defy Logic last time, looks to have less on his plate now.
