In-form trainer Philip Rothwell is hoping the rain continues to fall ahead of the Dublin Racing Festival this weekend.

The Wicklow handler has five entries in the handicaps at the two-day meeting, headed by Captains Nephew in the €100,000 Ryanair Handicap Chase.

He is currently a 25/1 shot for the two-mile-one contest having been a fine fifth in the ‘Dan Moore’ at Fairyhouse last time.

“Captains Nephew wants soft ground so hopefully the rain keeps falling for him,” said Rothwell.

“He ran a good race in Fairyhouse but it was just too quick for him.

“Dions Diamond and Phils Choice will probably run in the mares handicap hurdle.

“I’m not quite sure about The Busy Fool. He got a bad start the last day at Leopardstown and I’d say two miles on softer ground is probably what he wants.

“I probably shouldn’t have ran him at Christmas and waited for this. I think this race is just coming a bit quick for him but we’ll see how he is during the week.

“We’ll have a few runners but the biggest thing is that we get rain.”
