Lil Ella provided Christy Roche with a winner at his local track and gained reward for her consistency by landing the TRI Equestrian Café Nursery Handicap in the hands of Leigh Roche.
Apprentice Roche who sat in mid-division early on came with a well timed run to lead inside the final furlong for a two length win over Indicative
Winning trainer Roche said afterwards: “This is the only two year old I’ve ever trained and she cost me €1,000. She has never run a bad race and she always runs very well.”
Roche was full of praise for apprentice Leigh Roche stating: “Leigh is a very smart jockey, I was really, really impressed with him. I haven’t been as impressed with a young lad for a very long time.”
Leigh Roche who is apprenticed to Dermot Weld recorded his second winner today aboard Lil Ella.
