River Derwent swamps his Roscommon rivals River Derwent came widest of all to cut down the leaders in the www.roscommonracecourse.ie Handicap. James Ryan switched him out and asked for more tat the two pole and his mount found for him racing to the final furlong. The duo charged to the front with 100 yards to travel and won going away by a snug two and a-half lengths at 16/1. Breezy Zoff (12/1) filled the runner-up berth and was a head in front of Calamint (13/2). This was River Derwent's second success on turf to go with three on the Polytrack at Dundalk. Trainer Thomas Coyle said: “He probably should have won last week, he was left 15 lengths. I really fancied him last week, to be honest, and to finish where he did was an unbelievable run (seventh at this track) “I took the tongue-tie off today, he was still a bit slow away, but I think that might have helped. “I'm delighted for Donal (Byrne), he's a new owner to the yard and it's great to have him. “He's a west of Ireland man and hopefully he'll go to Galway, that'll be the plan. He might go to Ballinrobe at the end of next month and then on to Galway. “We bought him to win races and, hopefully, we'll have plenty of fun with him, if we can sort out the stalls a bit more.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
