Revenge is sweet for Ice Cold In Alex The Ken Condon trained Ice Cold In Alex got revenge on Kailee in the Extra.ie Handicap. They pair met over the course and distance earlier this month, with Kailee badly hampering the Middleham Park Racing Ireland owned victor. Sent off at 9/2 this afternoon, Ice Cold In Alex was settled towards rear by Niall McCullagh. He was pushed along and came with his effort on the outer from the two furlong pole, and was ridden with a furlong left to race. He got on terms with the 9/4 favourite Kailee inside the final 150 yards, keeping on best in the closing stages to prevail by a neck. Casimiro (5/1) completed the placings another three parts of a length back in third, with Colin Keane aboard this one for Ger Lyons. "He's been knocking on the door and he's got just rewards for his consistency," said Condon. "Apart from his first run back of the year, which he needed and it was very soft ground at Navan, the rest of his runs have been consistent. "He was second at Leopardstown and the last day here, on Derby weekend, he just got into a bit of a barging match and didn't get to run his race. "We said that day that we'd wait for this. He likes the Curragh, likes level fair tracks, and it's great that all his connections are here today to enjoy it. "He's a great fun horse and hopefully he might get another win before the season is out. "Seven or a mile is good for him and he actually won a five furlong sprint here last year so he's quite versatile but just likes quick ground. "He's in again on Wednesday and we'll see what the handicapper does. We'll see how he comes out of it. "Galway probably wouldn't suit him. He likes galloping tracks and likes to come off a strong pace." Additional reporting by Gary Carson
