Return to Fairyhouse does the trick for Magic Might Be Magic's marvellous record in two mile events over flights at Fairyhouse, now stands at three wins and three placings from six visits, after his victory today in the Ward Union Hunt Raceday Handicap Hurdle. Pat Foley was in the plate for his father Tom, on the family-owned ten-year-old, and those excellent statistics at the Ratoath venue weren't lost on the punters that backed him in from 14s to 8s. That money might have looked like it'd be staying in the layers satchels when the long-absent outsider Go Anna Go gained the upper hand from the final flight, where Might Be Magic erred. However it was soon apparent that the light-weight wasn't doing a whole lot for Jonathan Burke and Might Be Magic battled back to prevail by a head. "He broke his pelvis in three places in Naas (March 2011) and we thought he'd never race again," explained Foley senior. "We went to Punchestown yesterday and thought we'd a good chance (with Dantes Firth, favourite, finished 4th) and I thought we'd no chance today but that's racing! "He never runs a bad race here. I thought he was beaten when he made a mistake at the last but he's got great heart and never gives in." (AM & EM)
