The opening race on the last day of the three day Galway August meeting, the Donnelly's of Barna EBF 2yo Maiden, went to the Aidan O'Brien trained, Seamie Heffernan ridden Requisition
The son of Invincible Spirit was sent off at 6/1 having run twice already, finishing third on his debut at Leopardstown behind stablemate Learn before disappointing at Tipperary last time out finishing eighth behind Buffalo Billy when sent off the Evens favourite.
The winner, whose dam is 1,000 Guineas heroine from 2005 Saoire, was always prominent and challenged under pressure to lead into straight. He was pressed inside the final furlong by Fatcatinthehat but stayed on well to score by three parts of a length.
The runner-up Fatcatinthehat (12/1) was making his debut for Willie Mullins in the colours of the Ricci’s and it shouldn’t be too long before that one loses his maiden tag.
The 3/1 favourite Freedom Reigns for Kevin Prendergast and Declan McDonogh completed the placings four and a half lengths back in third.
The better fancied Ballydoyle horse Canary Wharf at 7/2 could only manage fifth under Colm O'Donoghue.
Winning jockey Seamie Heffernan said afterwards: "He stuck his head down and battled on well. He had a lovely run the first day but he disappointed at Tipperary and we don't know why."
