Razoul gets Cody off the mark There was a breakthrough winner for Ray Cody in the two mile maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan as the 5/6 favourite Razoul overcame a mistake two out toeventually win by a comfortable ten lengths under Donagh Meyler. The Mastercraftsman gelding was rewarded for his consistency after having had to settle for second on his previous three starts. Monkeylou was second here at 100/30 with Brog Ahaon another two lengths away in third at 6/1. Afterwards, the delighted winning trainer Ray Cody remarked “That's my first winner so it's mighty to get off the mark. “I've been assistant to Ellmarie Holden and to Eoin Doyle but I went out on my own it's great to get off the mark. “It's great to get the first one and I'm over the moon. “He's actually a good horse, he's so unlucky that he's bumped into one the last three times. “I thought today, bar a fall, he looked well ahead of those. I might give him a little break now. “I think he could be good enough to run in that good hurdle in Listowel, the Lartigue Hurdle, off a low weight. He'll go on soft ground as well if it came up soft." Additional reporting by Gary Carson
