Rauzan brought up his hat-trick in good style in the Charles and Kathleen Caldwell Memorial Rated Novice Hurdle over an extended two miles five furlongs at Downpatrick.

The four-year-old gelding delivered over flights in Tramore and Downpatrick on his previous two outings.

He was held up by Phillip Enright in this four-runner contest and was hampered at the fifth when Notkeepinyagoing departed.

He moved ominously well in second behind 7/4f Disco Dancer and eased past her on the run-in. From there, he sailed by 12 lengths at 2/1.

Eoin Doyle said: "I suppose the conditions of the race and the weights (suited).

"Phillip said he nearly found traffic even with four runners (hampered by faller Notkeepinyagoing).

"He's a horse that travels well and stays well which is a good attribute to have. He said he picked up well at the back of the last. He did it well.

"I've no real plan for him but we might look at Galway.

"He's a dual-purpose horse and he is only rated 61 on the Flat, so I might look at the Flat as well.

"He's definitely improving for a four-year-old.

"He's a horse we bought out of Mick Halford's and was well recommended by Mick, fair play to him.

"We are delighted and job done today anyway."
