Ratib lands the odds in Dundalk opener Ratib comfirmed the promise of his debut run a fortnight ago when taking the opener at Dundalk this evening. The Joseph O'Brien-trained son of Frankel had been an eye-catching fifth on his first outing at the track and went to post a 8/13 shot today. Declan McDonogh tracked the leaders before producing his mount between horses to challenge a furlong from home. Ratib hit the front inside the final 100 yards and held the late charge of Bear Story to record a half length win. “The race went lovely for me, there was a nice pace and I just took him back, followed them, and let him relax,” said McDonogh. “He came through them nicely and I thought he won with a bit in hand, pulling up a little bit at the line. “He's a nice horse. He progressed well from his first run and hopefully it should be onwards and upwards with him, I like him.”
