Kieran Quigley rode his first winner, as the nineteen-year-old from County Westmeath got Ted Veale (5/1 from 6s) home by half a length, from English-raider Sea Pride in the concluding Listowel Races Supporters Club Slan Abhaile (Q.R.) Race.
Rider of the favourite, Rebel Fitz (disappointed in sixth place), Mikey O'Connor, reported that his mount boiled over before the race.
Ted Veale improved to press the Sir Mark Prescott-trained, and Nina Carberry-ridden Sea Pride (had led two and a half furlongs out) a furlong out.
Ted Veale edged ahead close home as the principals left Do Try Dolly seven and a half lengths back in third.
Tony Martin of course has care of that good servant Ted Veale, for John Breslin, and he said: "Kieran came to me about three months ago. He was highly recommended by a good judge - Cecil Ross.
"He's a good worker and has a great brain and I think he can go all the way to the top."
