Queens Carriage followed up her maiden win at Dundalk last month with an impressive victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race.

Trained near Carrick-on-Suir by Kevin Coleman, who is probably best remembered for partnering the Liam Burke-trained Sir Frederick to land the Galway Plate in 2007, the daughter of Mehmas showed good speed throughout this five-furlong event and put the race to bed from over a furlong out.

The 100/30 chance kept on strongly inside the final furlong under Luke McAteer to beat Livingston Range by three and a quarter lengths, with Giselles Thunder a further head away in third.

Coleman said, “On ratings we were wrong so I used the claimer and it turns out we didn’t need to.

“It’s been a long season and that’s her ninth run. I was going to give her a break the last day but she was in such good form we kept her going for this race. That’s two wins so it’s job done.

“She’s hardy out and a pleasure to train with a very good temperament.

“I don’t train too many horses but she’s the fastest thing that I have ever sat on. It’s taken her a while to hit top gear.

“The aim was to get black type and she was fourth in two Listed races. That’s what we will aim for next year but she needs fast ground. She will have a long break now.”
