Punchestown Racecourse succeeded where many others have failed when managing an unlikely win over The Weather this week, catering for 91,000 people throughout the rain-hit five day Festival.

The figure was down 4,000 on last year's Festival but notably, both Friday and Saturday's attendances (run in better conditions than the previous two days) were well up on last year's corresponding figures.

Saturday's attendance was 25,146, up from 23,371 last year while the Tote figure was €545,079, as opposed to €645,325 for 2011 (eight races).

Bookmaker figures were also down on last year, again mostly due to the six race card, with €821,281.00 wagered today against €1,258,759.00 last year.
