Trainer Dick Dononoe is looking forward to getting Brains back in action at Dundalk on Wednesday ahead of a stint on the Polytrack over the winter.

The eight-year-old gelding has won a third of his 65 races, for four different trainers, and was last seen finishing sixth at Gowran Park in the summer.

Donohoe said: "He usually runs well here (Dundalk).

"He is coming back off a lay-off on Wednesday and hopefully he will run well.

"He hasn't run since Gowran back in August, that's the only thing I'd be afraid of.

"He'll run here over the winter, he was placed here a couple of times here the last winter and won during the summer (at Roscommon).

"A grand, old horse. He's done well for everybody - I think he has won 13 times."

He contests the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap over seven furlongs.
