Willie and Patrick Mullins completed a first and last race Leopardstown double with Green Splendour in the Race And Stay INH Flat Race.

Team Closutton had landed the curtain-raiser through Kopek Des Bordes and they weren't long about making an impression with stable first-timer Green Splendour (25/1 from 33/1 with Paddy Power for the Champion Bumper).

Coincidentally at about the same time, the Crawford brothers were on the mark in the Down Royal bumper, whilst in Foxrock their ex-inmate Green Splendour was doing the needful for owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede.

The Mount Nelson gelding had begun for the Crawfords at Newbury back in March, when fourth in a big sales bumper.

Here as an 11/4 chance he built on that, digging in well to see off Khmer and Walks In June by a length and a quarter and a head.

“That was a very good performance, he's a nice type,” said Willie Mullins.

“I'm very pleased, he looks a good staying type and I think he'll improve. We'll find a winners bumper for him.

“It looked a strong bumper and I'd imagine you'd have to look at coming back here for the DRF with him. He's a course and distance winner so we'll have a crack at that.”

Mr D. Doyle, rider of Attaho (FR), trained by Martin Brassil, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran too freely.
