Proposal pips Gulliver in Scurry thriller Romantic Proposal got up late on to pip English raider Gulliver and land a big pot for trainer Eddie Lynam in the €75,000 Paddy Power Scurry Handicap at the Curragh. Gulliver had kicked a few lengths clear before the furlong marker in the six-furlong contest but was nailed on the line by Romantic Proposal with Wayne Lordan timing his run to perfection. The 11/2 shot had won her final two starts of last season and was sixth on her return here late last month. “It was a nice to get a nice win with her. It was the plan to go for one of these big races as we thought she was well enough handicapped and competitive. Plans seldom work but this one did,” said Lynam. “She was very fresh the first day but she'd had a run. I was leaning towards running her in the seven furlong handicap but with the little bit of rain I thought this race might suit better. “I talked to Joe Foley and he thought the same, between the two of us we got it right. “It's nice to get a winner for Steve (Parkin) who is a big supporter of mine. Between Leeds winning the Championship and Eagles By Day winning at York he's having a good weekend.”
